St. Annes Pub is like the best stuff on NPR, but Biblical and Reformed (I say this as a big fan of NPR). Anyway, their newest issue is on “Rest” and well worth your time. I am not sure how it relates to “rest,” but Joost Nixon’s take on the lead singer of U2 and his confession of Jesus is beautiful. It is only 6 minutes and 60 seconds long, but one of the best things on the winter edition of St. Annes Pub 2005. Bono is not an example to follow (well, not in most ways), but is he an example of grace? You can download the MP3 directly from their site via this link:
A Case of Vertigo: Is Bono a Brother?
While you’re at it – sign up for the St. Annes Pub quarterly audio journal and throw some money at them to keep it going.

Uhm…wouldn’t 6 minutes and 60 seconds be equal to 7 minutes?
Uhhh… yeah.
St. Anne’s Pub rocks. I’ll second the exhortation to send them money and get on their quarterly audio journal. They even switched from tapes to cds recently!
Joe, Excellent audio on Bono. The audio cause me to pause and consider how narrow a definition of grace/Christianity I have developed over the years. I am still not sure about Bono. I realize how much I have limited God’s grace. I look at my own struggles/sins and realize how much I desire grace, but I will often judge someone like Bono, who struggles are more public and somewhat different than my struggles. At this moment, I am struggling with anger over a force resignation. I have been hypocritical in my prayers. I have been praying for the Lord to bless the Church I left, but in reality my heart has been praying that they will whiter away into nothing. Why? Because I am full of pride, anger, and bitterness. The church that wronged are sinners like Bono, and like me—none perfect—all needing grace.
Thanks
Jeff
I’ve known about them for a few months, where’d you hear about them? I know Joost and his brother. Great guys both of them.
Tim, I am not sure exactly what you are asking. But concerning St. Annes, I have been listening to it since Hearts Made Glad – A Tribute to Wine (link) thanks to the Right Rev. Steve McCoy.
Thanks for the link, Joe.
Based on your recommendation, I have downloaded the MP3s on “Rest” and will listen to them.
However, I’m not sure that I would liken St. Annes Pub with NPR (which is also one of my guilty pleasures). I find Mars Hill Audio ( http://www.marshillaudio.org/ ) to be a closer comparison. Too bad MHS does not allow us to download their audio as MP3s!!!
In format, it is very much like some of the programs on air. The way they incorporate written pieces, music and interviews – even the tone of it all. Very NPR-ish to me. Which is a good thing.
I think MHA is like NPR in the discussion format. I think SAP is more like NPR in that they have a similar creative goals and readings as well as the discussion format. Both are excellent, and this one on Bono is really fantastic.
