WoG Feeds

Monday, January 30th, 2006

I really appreciate those who visit and comment (even those who do not comment, and I really do know who you are!). I have had some issues with my feeds for the blog and have made some adjustments. It would really help me if those who subscribe to one of my feeds would use my [...]

Ship of Fools

Monday, January 30th, 2006

So I like to read to my four year old daughter before she goes to bed. Recently I got in the habit of making up stories for her on the spot. This weekend she asked if I would “tell” her a story, not simply read one from a book. So this is what came out. [...]

Superman Returns

Saturday, January 28th, 2006

To be honest I was not looking forward to this movie very much, but the teaser trailer does it for me. It looks great. Listen to the words of Superman’s father, esp. toward the end and why Kal-El (Superman) was sent to earth. Just awesome. If you have missed it, check out the teaser here.

Does This Bother You?

Friday, January 27th, 2006

I saw this in DeKalb recently. Does it bother you? If it does, why? I imagine many Christians would be frustrated with it because we have bought into a synthesis of Christianity and American politics. It’s not that I am a Democrat (or a Republican), but I am uncomfortable with any sell-out to a political [...]

iPod

Friday, January 27th, 2006

Because of a recent new car puchase my Dad received a free 30GB iPod. Though he is technologically savy, especially for a sexagenarian, he didn’t have use for it so he passed it on to me. I wouldn’t have spent the cash on it, but love having one.

Why go to the Movies?

Thursday, January 26th, 2006

If you know me, you know I love movies. I find them to be a valuable component of our culture, a profitable addition to a life of faith and a worthy art form. Someone recently asked me why I thought movies were a good thing to see. Here is part of my answer.

As a form [...]

Darfur

Wednesday, January 25th, 2006

Al Mohler has written an excellent piece concerning the genocide in Darfur and called the church to both awareness and action. In our comfortable climate it can be easy to forget our God calls us to more than personal devotions and a private prayer life. He calls us to work for justice, to value mercy [...]

The Heretic Quiz

Tuesday, January 24th, 2006

I took the “Are You a Heretic Quiz” and was pleased to see that I am 100% “Chalcedon Compliant.” It’s funny though, I think the framers of the new, controversial IMB policies might trip the donatism alarms. Give it a whirl, it’s a short quiz.

Driscoll and the Culture War

Monday, January 23rd, 2006

I have been putting my thoughts together on the concept of “culture war” for a few months now, but have not laid them all out yet. To be honest, I am still thinking through certain aspects of the concept and trying to draw the best, most biblical, conclusions.
Mark Driscoll has a new post up asking [...]
