Family Time

I took the fam’ to a local forest preserve today for a picnic. We ate, the kids ran around and played, and then we followed a hiking trail. Afterwards we hit Trader Joe’s to stock up on dark chocolate covered espresso beans, raisins and almonds.

The dog is our newest addition. “Manu” (German nickname for Manuel) is a female Mini Dachsund. How she wound up with a male name is a longer story. She is a sweet, mellow dog when inside, and playful when outside. She does not shed, and rarely barks. Perfect.

We got my dachsaund when I was 4 years old, and she was a part of our family until I was 22. Miniature, like yours, but she grew to be sort of in between miniature and regular sized, and she was short haired. They’re really a great size, and loads of fun. Mine could play soccer like Pele with a beach ball. Congrats on the new addition to the family.

Thank you Sonya. I am immeasurably blessed. Back in college I was asked by – even some of the staff – “How did a guy like you get a girl like that?!” The answer is, like everything, grace.

That’s awesome, Joe. It’s nice to see some family pics. Blogdom can be a very impersonal place.

ps
What size hat do you wear?

Thanks man. Actually it just says “Pumpkin” on the label inside my hat. It’s even harder to find sunglasses that fit.

Personally, I like the intense eyes and tough-guy fist ya got going there. As if to say “I’m all sweet with my family, but I’ll knock ya flat, buster!” You must be trouble after a few refreshing grape beverages when you’ve aquired the false confidence of ‘grape muscles.’

You know I’m kidding with you. That’s one beautiful picture of one beautiful family.
