A year ago this December I started taking pictures with a Nikon D70s. I have always appreciated photography, and getting into it this year has been a great way for me to do something I love while hoping to plug into our community. Looking back it has been fun, has forced me to slow down [...]
I just got a copy of the new ESV Reverse Interlinear New Testament from Crossway. An traditional interlinear New Testament is essentially the Greek text with corresponding English words below. The reverse interlinear,
displays an English translation as theprimary text and then weaves the correspondng Greek words between the English lines. So the word order of [...]
Many, if not most, of my readers are in seminary or ministry so I thought I would share a few quotes on preaching - again. This morning I was reading, “Preaching for the Poor,” an amazing sermon by Charles Spurgeon. Later in the week I want to get to his thoughts on preaching the Gospel [...]
This morning as I sat in my old brown chair, listening to Miles Davis’ Kind of Blue I read Spurgeon on Psalm 2:12. After all of my sermon prep is done I like to read a sermon by someone else for further reflection, and tomorrow I am preaching the second Psalm. In his introductory remarks [...]
The top picture was taken near my house. I really liked the different textures, the tags and the red posts contrasting against all of the gray tones. I was able to get pretty low for a more interesting perspective. The bottom picture was taken at what had to be the dirtiest, most archaic doctor’s office [...]
This morning I read a sermon by Thomas Watson, “How May We Cure Distractions in Holy Duties?” You gotta love God’s providence. Just last Sunday I confessed to the church that I had come to worship very distracted. I certainly left in a better frame than I came, but I have been thinking about this [...]
Jeff is a friend from church who is currently teaching our Sunday morning class on the Protestant Reformation. He is also the guy schooling me in the game of chess. Since we’re talking about it, I beat him in our last three games. *ahem* Anyway, he had mentioned passing out copies of the Luther’s 95 [...]
Dr. Van Neste points out the John Newton Project. As I posted a year ago, Newton is worth everyone’s time and this should make it easy for all to have access. I am pumped about this, but hope they’ll have a better looking/functioning site by the time his works are all up.
I am having some blog-trouble this weekend. Hopefully things will get ironed out by next week.
UPDATE: I have fixed the problem (I think) and have assigned a temp theme (look) to the blog. I don’t have much time to spend on fixing the blog, so as I get the opp’ I will finish this and [...]
