Here are two short videos of Matisyahu: one is of his newest video, Jerusalem, and the other is him beatboxing. I imagine most of my readers are not into hip-hop, reggae, or the interesting combination of both, which is why I thought it would be a good idea to put it out there. Matisyahu is a member of Chabad-Lubavitch, one of the largest branches of Hasidic Judaism, and also a highly respected artist in the hip-hop and rock communities. The fact that he sings about peace, love, justice, hope and YHWH does not seem to negatively impact his growing popularity. Check it out. It’s great stuff.

Matisyahu is an interesting person. I have his Live at Stubb’s album, and it is interesting to hear him sing of awaiting the Messiah–sort of like a pomo David…
I work in the work out center here at Union, and i tried to play him over the sound system… That didn’t go over well. For some reason, most people here don’t like to listen to Matisyahu, Lauryn Hill, or Bob Marley while they work out–Go Figure…
Maybe you should stick to Point of Grace.
the beat boxing is great!!
nice vid posts…first heard of him with the work he did with POD…so do we take his music like the psalms?

Some of his music certainly reflects the Psalms, but I simply take his music as one man’s art. It happens to resonate with me personally so it’s a good fit.
I had never heard of this man before. Wow! Very cool stuff. I like the quasi reggae sound with a rap like and hip hop feel. The beat boxing was amazing.
Thanks for introducing me to this guy, Joe.
Wow interesting. That beat boxing was amazing! Never heard this guy before.
If I did not know better I might mistaken that first one for a wierd Al video gone bad
Check out the music Matisyahu did with P.O.D… good stuff.
