Road Trip: Louisville
Posted by Joe Thorn - 29/04/07
Steve and I have come down to Louisville to meet with friends and dialog about church planting and church planting networks. I have benefited from our denomination, and believe our church will remain Southern Baptist as long as doctrinal integrity and healthy cooperation remain in play. While I can imagine both of these things disappearing in 10-20 years, I like to think we will only grow healthier. Time will tell. NAMB is a great way to plant a church (we planted Grace via NAMB), but the alternative networks (Acts 29, Sovereign Grace, etc.) are producing great results as well. I really want our church to both partner with others in the planting of healthy churches and to be directly involved in planting as much as possible. This is why we are here. This and the Scotch Eggs at the Irish Rover. I’ll share more as I can.
Steve and I will be taking photos along the way:

Joe,
Enjoy the trip.
By the way, how far of a drive is it from the Chicago area to Louisville? I already mentioned this on our Friday Photo Flickr group, but I am thinking of swinging through Chicago after the New Attitude Conference this coming month. So, I am trying to plan, and google maps says five hours, but I am not sure if I should trust it.
Thanks,
James

Yeah James that’s about right, but I would allow for more time depending on traffic and where you plan on parking in the city.

Enjoy. I pastor a small church in Sellersburg which is about 9 miles north. I enjoy the Irish Rover and ear-x-tacy as well.

The Welsh Rabbit. A man’s grilled cheese. That pretty much sums it up.

Good to hear. Encourage your innovative (and Christian) collaborative friends there to weigh in at the cityreaching wiki page for Louisville.
And if you’re driving through Indy… wave.

I think its good that in that picture one of you appears to be driving.

There’s something criminal about being able to eat Irish pub grub at half the price you’d pay in Dublin (or London). The only exception is the Scotch Eggs: you’re getting ripped off there, Joe, but I bet they’re pretty good.

Drew - when someone wants to pay our way!
Bill, this is the only place I know of to even get Scotch Eggs. It’s always worth it.
