Live Photoblogging: Family Worship

by Joe Thorn on June 13, 2007

This is our typical family worship time. Same time (7:30am), same place, same people, using the Jesus Storybook Bible. The kids love it. So do Jen and I. And I am willing to go on record and suggest this better stuff than what you’d get at the pastors conference. Are you following Steve’s Live Blogging away from the SBC too?

that’s a great family shot. Isaac has the same dog pajamas.

We have to get the Jesus Storybook Bible. Where do you find that one?

Locally, I would try John’s. But Amazon carries it.

I’ve been very convicted lately at my failure as a spiritual leader to my family. One of the areas I struggle in most is family devotions. I am married and have three year old daughter. Aside from the photo, what do your family devotions with the Jesus Storybook Bible look like?

Matt, I have blogged on this a bit before, and interviewed Tom Ascol. Links below. I am contnuing to write some thoughts on this for our church, and some of that will show up here today or tomorrow. For us at home it’s very simple. We read from that Bible (I explain a little), pray together and sing a song. That’s it at their age. It lasts 10-15 minutes. The kids really like it.

    Hi Joe,
I came across your very cool blog just yesterday and seeing you with your family reading from the book just made my heart sing! And I just had to write and say Hi and thanks for your posting on the book. There has been such a wonderful response–from parents and children and I’m so excited to see the way God is using it to get the Gospel out there!

Also, Dan Cruver has started a challenge on his eucatastrophe blog–how many photos can he collect of parents reading The Jesus Storybook Bible to their children? He already has quite a few there, it’d be fun to get some more! Yours is so cool, would love it if you want to join in the fun. Here’s the link to send along the photo, if that appeals … alternatively you could also send to me and I can forward to him plus post it on my blog, too!

    Thanks so much–and happy 4th!
