Joe:

Suggestion -- create a FamilyWorship tag. that way we can easily review all of the posts on this topic.

Thanks for posting this.

Joe,
Thanks for this. With all of our children moved out and on their own, it has been a struggle for my wife and I to transition our family devotions. This has been a help in thinking through some of those changes.

Joe,

Thanks for writing on this little discussed topic. Our SS class is right now discussing these issues. I read the bullet points of your June 14 post to them on Sunday and we had a preliminary discussion about how we might actually practice family worship. Many of the concerns of the class are mirrored in this new post.

Your discussion here has been helpful for thinking through how I might lead my family in this way.

Thanks,
Todd Benkert (novice blogger :-)

We started with baby steps...several times a week. I like your call to not make it rigid. We have tried to make our time together more conversational with our 5 kids. I can tell when I'm in lecture mode; the eyes rolled back in their heads give it away.

I just started reading The Forgotten Ways by Alan Hirsch, and he introduced a term in the context of discipleship that really resonated with me: outsourcing.

When I rely solely on the admittedly good children's ministries for my children to be discipled, then I am literally outsourcing that to someone else.

Ouch.

Yeah Chris, give it a whirl. Keeping it simple and short and not stressing about it was what made it really workable for us. Praying for your fam brother.

BTW, Take some photos and upload 'em soon!
