Friday Photo
October 26th, 2007A photo I took of my son over the weekend wound up on Chicago Public Radio’s website last Monday. That’s always cool! Around the same time last year they used a photo of my daughter taken at the same location. Anyway, this Friday Photo was taken in honor of my wife - who was out of town this week visiting friends. The fire isn’t very visible in the background, otherwise it turned out like I’d hoped. I don’t do much staged stuff, but this was fun. I sent the photo and the following letter to Jen via email while she was gone.
Dear Jen,
We hope you are having a great time with your friends in Ohio. We miss you, but are keeping things together while you are gone. The kids are playing well together and I am cooking dinner. Don’t worry about us. I promise to not burn the house down or let the kids do anything dangerous.

Wow! I wake up and check my morning blog roll at 7:30 am here in Prague and there is a Friday photo up! Amazing! Love the pic and note! Hey completely random, but I wanted to encourage you, I have subscribed to your podcast and it has been a blessing. Keep after it Joe!

Chris, the shallow DoF is what makes the photo! Seriously, I was planning that before I got set up. That part worked great. The fire, meh. I should have made it bigger. But I didn’t want to really burn down the house. See you tonight!

While I find this very funny, I have one question. How did Jen react? Hopefully, she saw the humor. If not I would bet Joe slept on the couch when she got home.

Thanks for sharing your wife with me last week! We had an awesome time together! All the girls laughed when Jen received the above photo! Very funny! I’ve been listening to your Podcasts too! Thanks for putting them up there! They challenge and encourage me - as did your wife last week! You guys are an awesome couple and I literally thank God for you in my life!
