Our dog Manu died last night. The kids are sad and having a hard time, but they are happy to have had a few years with such a fun and kid-friendly dog. Much of today is remembering their best times with Manu. We’ve been talking theology, and the kids are handling it well.

Sorry to hear that. Hard to lose a dog, especially one so young. We’ll keep ya’ll in our prayers.
Joe, I lost a beloved dog last year, and here was my response:
A Public Apology
Joe-
Sorry to hear about your dog. When you say “talking theology”, I am wondering what it is your are saying about the loss of your dog?
Thanks,
Trey
Joe,
We hated losing our Cocker Spaniel about ten years ago. We will likely fall apart when we lose, Spurgeon, our Terrier/Daschsund mix.
What breed was Manu? What does the name mean?
Todd, Manu was a mini-Dauchsund. Manu is the German nickname for Manuel. But our Manuel was a girl. Long story.
Trey, by “talking theology” I mean we are helping our kids to understand why death is here, why it hurts and the frailty of life. As well as the goodness and sovereignty of God and what our hope is for deliverance from sin and death through Jesus. You know, “talking theology.”
Joe-
That’s what I thought. I just wanted you to clarify it a bit for me. The more I thought about it, a loss of a pet is an issue of practical, real life theology. I remember losing my pets as a child, but just being told they went to heaven. Obviously, that’s not really talking theology. Thanks for the answer.
