I came across this through another blogger, Michael Wallenmeyer. I teach a course for Palmer Seminary in Philly called Transformational Leadership in the Mission Oriented Church each year. I like your concepts for becoming more gospel centered and will definitely introduce them to my students.

Thanks for this post.

This is a great question, brother (or sister?). I'll answer it on the blog as soon as I can. For now, I would say YES! to your first paragraph, and explain that 1) we can only have and cultivate a relationship with Christ because of the gospel, and 2) the gospel is the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. So I wouldn't pit the gospel of Jesus against the person of Jesus.

I'll give a fuller answer in the blog soon.

I thought that the way we live the Christian life (victory over sin, purity, power, joy, passion, personal holiness, etc) is by cultivating an intimate relationship with a living and risen person Jesus Christ)? I thought the Christian life is about seeking, communing with, fellowshipping with the living Jesus in and through and by the bible?
Gospel centered almost sounds like things get formulaic........repeat these things (historical events and theological/biblical truths in your head) and you'll be fine. But what happens to the person the gospel is about? What happens with communing with Him?
Is it wrong to just say I'm "Christ-centered" instead of using the phrase " Gospel Centered "?
