Don Whitney (author and theologian, who emphasizes spiritual life and disciplines) has been hired by Southern Seminary as Associate Professor of Biblical Spirituality. Another good move by the seminary. Whitney is solid. There has been quite a bit of dialogue recently about spiritual disciplines and the resurgence of some ancient practices - good and bad - in our churches today. I am not personally intersted in Labyrinth Walking as a means of prayer and meditation, but there is a lot of debate surrounding this discipline in particular. SlimFastCrusader, a student at Southern, has some good words at his blog. He's not going to bat for the Labyrinth, but he does want us to be honest about our spiritual disciplines. Check it out here.
