For The Weekend

Imitating Christ, Self and a Bat Don't know what to do this weekend? Here are three things to check out.

1. Thomas A' Kempis. God has been driving home the place of humility in the life of his people for some time now in my own study. Virtually every passage in the Bible and every book I read keeps teaching me of the need to be genuinely humble. This week I came across Of Concealing Grace Under the Guard of Humility in Thomas A' Kempis' "The Imitation of Christ." Check it out this weekend.

2. Make Your Own Portrait. This is only for those of you with too much time on your hands this weekend. This online image generator allows you to create a cartoon version of yourself. You get to choose from a variety of body types, head shapes, eyes, etc. My attempt is in the graphic above (I'm the one in the middle). Huh. I'm way better looking in the virtual world. Try it out here.

3. Batman Begins. This is now out on DVD. For those of you who have not seen it, Batman Begins is the best treatment of Batman on film to date. Some of the themes are justice versus revenge, and the redemption of man and city. I wont say more than that. A great flick. (This is an intense film and not for the little ones.)
