Holiday weekends are great, but always busy. This weekend wasn't too stressful, but it has kept us on our toes and on our knees. Our Good Friday worship gathering was a great time to sing of and meditate on the gravity of our sin and the immeasurable sacrifice of Jesus Christ. We focused on the last seven "words" of Christ with each of the elders sharing the pulpit. Today (Easter) we didn't really do anything different from our normal worship gatherings - we rejoiced in Christ who died and rose from the dead on behalf of sinners. We saw a lot of new people, our worship band did a great job leading us in song. Christ was exalted and the gospel was clear.
At the same time our first church plant (led by Jamie Page) had it's first worship gathering in downtown DeKalb at a great cafe/music venue. I can't wait to hear how things went. So far I've only seen a few tweets (here, and here).
Now I'm home chilling with the fam in the living room, enjoying a day together before we have the traditional ham dinner.
Oh yeah, for this holiday weekend I wound up recommending 3 books to our people. Here they are:
