I have been encouraged by reading Brian Hedges new book, Christ Formed in You. For those looking for gospel-centrality and gospel-formation it's a must have. Concerning the practice of godliness he writes,
...the gospel doesn't get left behind as we press on to holiness. No, the gospel beckons us forward and sweetens the difficulties on the narrow way with the promise of deep satisfaction and joy as we grow in conformity to and communion with our Savior.
Martin Luther said it well...
"This life, therefore is not righteousness, but growth in righteousness; not health, but healing; not being, but becoming; not rest, but exercise. We are not what we shall be, but we are growing toward it. The process is not yet finished, but it is going on. This is not the end, but it is the road. All does not yet gleam in glory, but all is being purified." - Brian Hedges, Christ Formed in You
