My book, Note to Self: The Discipline of Preaching to Yourself, is coming out in April. I wrote it to encourage others to engage in the habit of personally responding to God's word in deep, practical ways. It's a call to meditation, not for mere introspection or intellectual exercize, but to rerspond in ongoing faith and repentance. It's called "Note to Self" because most of my preaching to myself is not made up of lengthy diatribes, or elequent words, but are brief, direct appeals to my heart in light of God and his gospel. I think it would be helpful to hear what you have been preaching to yourself lately. Perhaps you are coming back from the Desiring God Conference for Pastors and have been encouraged and challenged by something said there. Maybe God has been pressing you in a particular area in your reading of Scripture. What "notes" have you been giving yourself in response to Scripture? Be specific. Share them in the comments. And remember, these are notes, not essays.
