Sunday Evening Prayer

We bless thee, O God, for the privileges of thy Sanctuary, but we confess with shame, that we, this day, have notworshipped thee, nor served thee, as we ought to do. Pardon, O Lord, the wanderings of our minds, and the coldness of our hearts, and deal not with us according to our deserts, but according to thy tender mercies. Sanctify to us all the means of grace, and especially thy appointment of a holy day of rest. Make us duly thankful, that we have been favored again with its weekly return, and sensible that one day in thy courts is better than a thousand spent in vanity and sin. May every passing day and week bring us nearer to those everlasting joys, which thou hast promised to those who love and fear thee. Prepare us, O our heavenly Father, for that eternal Sabbath, and heavenly rest, which remain for the people of God. Pardon all our sins, and accept our prayers, we humbly beseech thee, granting us those good things, which we are not worthy to ask, but in the name, and through the merits of our most blessed Lord and Redeemer. Amen. - Sunday Evening Prayer, Daily Morning and Evening Prayers
