For the past 6 years Redeemer Fellowship has been led by four elders: Pastors Pat, Tom, Jeff, and myself. But today we installed our fifth elder, Brian Malcolm. Over a year ago Brian became an Elder Candidate of the church and through these past 15 months Brian has joined the elders in all our meetings, taken an even more public role in church life, has been coached, has coached/counseled others, been involved in various levels of pastoral ministry, and has worked through a good number of books* to both test him and help prepare him for the role of elder.
Brian has excelled in his training and proven himself to be a good steward of the gospel and the people God has entrusted to this church. His strengths are beautiful compliments to the current elder team and bring greater strength to us all. Brian is an effective and pastoral problem-solver; a "kingly" and "priestly" type of man who is loved and respected by all in the church. He is married to a godly woman, Heidi, and together they are a gospel team that has been bearing great fruit since they were wed. Redeemer is thrilled to have Brian Malcolm serve and lead us!
Tomorrow I'll be posting another Redeemer update that's also very big news. If you're part of Redeemer you already know what it is. But since it's official tomorrow, I'll wait until then to post.
