I love attending Together for the Gospel. A group of us from Redeemer have gone to every gathering and we have found it to be a great time of teaching, fellowship, and encouragement. You can expect a bearded mass from the Chicago suburbs among the thousands of attendees this year again.
Just before the opening session of T4G there is a gathering called Band of Bloggers. Band of Bloggers is an annual gathering of evangelical bloggers, authors, and church leaders for an informal time of fellowship and discussion of the relationship of the gospel, technology, and our witness in the world. These are a good time for thought provoking and helpful dialog. Plus, you'll get free books and a Chick-Fil-A lunch. It's only $15, and space is limited, so head over to the the site and register.
This year I'm on the panel with Tim Brister, Justin Taylor, Collin Hansen, Trevin Wax, and Denny Burk. John MacArthur and I will be traveling together, so maybe he will join us. Ok, that last part isn't true. We will be discussing "Platform Building and there Gospel." Here's a summary from the BoB website.
There’s a lot of pressure today for pastors and leaders to build their “platform” in order to gain an audience and building influence. This is especially true if you are seeking to publish a book. With all the encouragement to self-promote and brand your identity online, how does this relate to the gospel call of taking up your cross and denying yourself? How do we make much of Christ when it seems so necessary to make much of our work?
This should be good. I hope to see you there!
