If you like writing in pencil, and wood pencils in particular, you will want to invest in a "bullet pencil." A bullet pencil is essentially a pencil holder for the last bit of a pencil that is getting too small to comfortably write with. It has a cap that protects the tip of the pencil when not in use. For a brief history of the bullet pencil check this out.
I've been carrying the Brass Midori Bullet Pencil, and have been pretty happy with it, but was looking for something more modern and a bit heavier. Enter artisan, Jon Fontane. In 2014 Jon created the Twist Bullet Pencil. These are machined from 6061 aluminum and feature a threaded brass or aluminum bullet tip. Traditional bullet pencils used a friction fit to hold the pencil and the pieces together. I finally got my hands on a Twist—the Blackout Twist Bullet Pencil.
The Blackout uses a black anodized aluminum bullet and comes loaded with a Blackwing 602 pencil nub. It includes one additional Blackwing 602 nub and one Blackwing Pearl (white) nub.
The Blackout is not only beautiful, but the construction is fantastic and the weight is perfect. You can also order a clip for it to better hold it in your pocket. I'll be ordering that accessory soon.
The Timber Twist utilizes the basic modular platform of the original Twist but adds a new aesthetic element of a machine milled, hand polished wood case. Options for the wood include Red Cedar, Mahogany and Walnut. These things look beautiful!
The Timber Twist Kickstarter campaign ends on April 13th around 1pm EST/12pm CST. So if you're interested head on over and check it out.
