On October 18th some of us from Redeemer Fellowship are joining many others to fight hunger, locally and globally, through participating in the CROP Hunger Walk. It's a 3 mile walk supported by donations from friends and family. I told friends at church I'd put this on my blog to see who might want to join us. You can make a donation at this web page of any size you wish. I'd appreciate any support you could send our way. If you want to help, visit my Crop Hunger Walk page here.
I linked to it earlier, but the series is now complete, so if you haven't seen it be sure to check out Good Magazine's excellent video series, On Skid Row, in five parts. It is a moving mini-documentary that provides a closer look at some of the different pieces of the puzzle that makes up skid row in Los Angeles: the kids, the drugs, religion, government "solutions," and more. Check it out: Part 1: Introduction Part 2: Kids Part 3: Drugs Part 4: God Part 5: Afterword
"The city government has plans to clean up skid row. They've been reinventing plans for decades. Skid Row is still here. Apparently, solely human solutions are not the answer." - Part 4: God
